New e-hp for our apprentices in distribution

We have expanded our fleet of Kyburz small vehicles for last-mile deliveries, adding eight of the latest-generation vehicles. The new electrically powered special vehicles are intended for use by apprentices in distribution logistics, amongst other things. We have been offering this apprenticeship to young people since summer 2025. Kyburz’s e-horsepower vehicles are quiet, low-emission and represent a sustainable future technology designed for the next generation – quite literally.

Eight new vehicles join the fleet

Who hasn’t heard of Kyburz’s electric three-wheelers with trailers? The long-established Swiss brand is regarded as a leader in the field of compact electric vehicles. Three years ago, we worked with Kyburz to develop a pilot vehicle with an interchangeable box chassis and trailer for our city logistics (see ‘Small electric delivery vehicle’ pilot project with cooperation partner Kyburz). This combination has proved its worth across the board. For last-mile deliveries, we have now procured eight additional small vehicles, each with four interchangeable box chassis.

Future for the future

Our new vehicles are primarily intended for use by our apprentices in the new profession of federally certified logistics specialist with a focus on distribution (see box) and will work in pairs in the Altstetten, Bern and Pratteln branches, and at our in-house training centres. They require a Category A1 driving licence. They can be used to efficiently deliver small parcels weighing up to 30 kilograms to private individuals and businesses in urban centres with heavy traffic and narrower streets. With a full battery charge, the vehicles have a range of up to 130 kilometres.

Our new apprenticeship to become a federally certified logistics specialist with a focus on distribution:

Young people can complete the three-year apprenticeship to become a federally certified logistics specialist with a focus on distribution at courier services or distribution centres – and it is now also available at Planzer Parcel. It prepares apprentices to efficiently sort, transport and deliver shipments to customers on time. The apprentices learn how the flow of goods is organised, how shipments are processed and distributed correctly, and what is essential for reliable delivery. Practical skills also play an important role: loading vehicles, planning routes and using state-of-the-art equipment. We also offer the opportunity to obtain a forklift licence.

Taking a tried-and-tested concept to a new level

The decision to expand our electric last-mile delivery network is based on the very positive experiences from our pilot project with LOXO (see ‘Planzer Parcel’, LOXO and Kyburz provide a boost on the last mile). Kyburz vehicles have proven to be reliable and efficient, especially in city logistics. At the same time, they embody sustainable logistics – electric, quiet and low-emission – and allow the next generation of skilled workers to work with future-proof technologies during their apprenticeship. Above all, they enable our young drivers to focus, as stress-free and safely as possible, on what matters most to us: satisfied recipients who receive their parcels on time at their front door.

Joining forces for the long term

We would like to take this opportunity to extend our special thanks to the Swiss family-owned company Kyburz for its partnership and forward-thinking collaboration. Together, we were able to further develop the vehicles in a targeted manner and tailor them perfectly to our operational requirements. Collaborations with partners such as Kyburz and LOXO are crucial for us in keeping up with the times and our customers. That is why we are keen to join forces with bold, pioneering companies. This allows us to lay the foundations for innovative, sustainable solutions, inspired by strong and forward-thinking partnerships.

Joanna Wlazlo, Head of Marketing at Kyburz:

‘Our vehicles are constantly evolving from a technical perspective. These developments also broaden the range of applications. In the new example from Planzer Parcel, the focus is not only on efficiency and sustainability, but also on job attractiveness and safety for apprentices and employees. For KYBURZ, it is essential to continuously adapt its products to the needs of its customers. Close collaboration with users has always formed the basis for practical solutions and will remain an essential component of our innovative strength in the future.’
